Swami Pavitrananda (1896–1977) was a senior monk of the Ramakrishna Order, a disciple of Swami Brahmananda, and the longtime head of the Vedanta Society of New York. He arrived in New York in 1951 and served as the Society’s spiritual leader for twenty-six years until his passing in 1977. He played a major role in shaping Vedanta work in New York and is remembered for his spiritual depth, clarity, and kindness.
